We convinced ourselves that giving users twelve different dials, four pie charts, and a constantly updating activity feed was the definition of "power." In reality, it was just visual noise disguised as productivity.
With the rise of large language models, the primary interface is shifting back to where computing started: the command line, reimagined as a conversational text box. You no longer need to find the specific widget to export your monthly revenue; you just ask for it. This is leading to a renaissance in typography and whitespace, as the need for dense graphical UI elements fades.
